Biography of Murilo Benicio

Murilo Benicio is a Brazilian actor, best known for his roles in Brazilian soap operas and his portrayal of the husband of the main character, played by Penelope Cruz, in the film "Woman on Top". He was born on July 13, 1971, in the suburb of Niteroi, Rio de Janeiro, into a large family with four brothers. His father, Mario Luis Benicio, was one of the leaders of the Bank of Brazil.

At the age of 8, Murilo expressed his desire to become an actor to his parents after watching movies featuring Charlie Chaplin. Coming from a financially stable family, his ambition was supported rather than discouraged. In 1989, Murilo traveled to California in an attempt to become a movie star. In San Francisco, he worked odd jobs such as cleaning floors, windows, and delivering pizzas.

Upon returning to Brazil, during the holidays, Murilo auditioned for actors at Rede Globo's workshop. At the age of 21, he made his debut in the series "Predator" in 1993, but it was not until five years later that he gained recognition with the release of the soap opera "In the Name of Love". This was when Murilo started to appear not only in TV series but also in feature films and even received an invitation to Hollywood, where he starred in the film "Woman on Top" (also known as "Feminist") alongside Penelope Cruz in 2000.

After returning home, Murilo continued his film career in Brazil. His true fame came with the release of the TV series "Clone", in which he played three twins. The series was broadcasted in almost all countries around the world and was repeatedly aired. Murilo became a star of Rede Globo and has successfully continued his film career. He is considered one of the best actors in Brazilian television.

Murilo is the father of two sons, Antonio (from Brazilian actress Alessandra Negrini, with whom he was in a relationship from 1996 to 1997) and Pietro (from Brazilian actress Giovanna Antonelli, with whom he had a relationship during the filming of the series "Clone" from 2002 to 2005). With an impressive resume, Murilo is widely regarded by critics as one of the best actors in Brazilian television.
